Congratulations to our Mixed team and captains Padraig Griffen/Fiona McGee/Marian Cunningham who beat Connemara Isles golf club on Wednesday to qualify for the Zone final against local rivals Galway golf club to be played on 25th June at home. Commiserations to the Pierse Purcell team and mentors Tommy Flaherty and Danny McGovern who went down at the same stage to Athenry golf club last Saturday. The Jack O’ Sullivan (Captain Peadar O’Flaherty) and Cecil Ewing (Captain Joe Treacy) are currently in training for their upcoming matches towards the end of the month.
Volunteers needed
It is hoped to organise a volunteer day to do a clean up prior to both Bearna golf club Captains Days in July. Some weeding needs to be done in the shrub beds leading into and around the car park. The railings around the clubhouse need to be repainted. A maximum four hours is needed. A sheet is provided in the locker room for any Bearna members who are interested in helping out on this project. Detailed arrangements will be communicated closer to the time
